Section description

It's a river for those for whom kayaking is more than calm drifting. A trip on the Kamienica is constant work in the kayak – dozens of natural obstacles: fallen trees, submerged trunks, historic weirs and natural water drops, a stony bottom and tight meanders in overgrown ravines. Every metre is a different puzzle: over the top, underneath or around? It's a school of technique and precision – the satisfaction of clearing the river without leaving the kayak.

Ravines, wild nature and zero civilisation

The river flows through wild, almost untouched forests and deep, ravine-like valleys that are not without reason compared to the Radunia Gorge. A stony bottom, clean water, beaver paths, birdsong and the shade of great trees create the atmosphere of an almost mystical expedition. Being cut off from phone coverage and infrastructure makes contact with nature here full and authentic.

Rest on your own terms

Despite its demanding character, there's no shortage of charming spots for a short stop – forest clearings and quiet coves let you catch your breath. But the Kamienica doesn't let you rest for long – it's a river that makes you move on.

Who is this section of the Kamienica for?

  • exclusively for experienced paddlers with at least a few log-jam routes behind them,
  • dozens of obstacles, weirs, drops, a stony bottom and tight meanders – full concentration,
  • single kayaks only – maximum manoeuvrability and control,
  • wild, ravine-like valleys compared to the Radunia Gorge,
  • a physical and mental challenge – a test, an adventure and a reward in one.

Useful tips

Is this section for beginners?

Definitely not. It's one of the most difficult log-jam routes in Pomerania. We require real experience (at least a few log-jam routes) and the ability to handle crisis situations. For beginners we recommend „My First Time in a Kayak" or „The Gentle Łupawa".

Can the route be shortened?

No. There's no possibility of finishing early on the route – the only pick-up point is Gałąźnia Mała. Setting off from Kamieniec, you have to be prepared to cover the whole section on your own.

Why single kayaks only?

The tight meanders, weirs, drops and numerous log jams require maximum manoeuvrability. Short single kayaks work best.

What will I see along the way?

Wild, ravine-like valleys resembling the Radunia Gorge, a stony bottom and clean water, beaver paths and an abundance of birds – far from civilisation.
