Extreme Bukowina – a difficult, log-jam kayaking trip on the Bukowina for the experienced (Siemirowice → Kozin)

A kayaking trip on the Bukowina from Siemirowice to Kozin (13 km) is everything that's thrilling in log-jam kayaking, served up in a nutshell: a fast current, numerous rapids, a stony bottom and a host of difficult log jams. A route exclusively for experienced paddlers, in single kayaks.

This river, unassuming at first, is excellent preparation and a prelude to the Łupawa, into which it flows. Supposedly not a mountain river – but in places that's exactly its character.

Useful tips

Is this section for beginners?

No. It's a difficult, log-jam route of partly mountain character. Only experienced paddlers should use it. For beginners we recommend „My First Time in a Kayak" or „The Gentle Łupawa".

Why single kayaks only?

The numerous log jams, the narrow channel and the fast current require maximum manoeuvrability – only short single kayaks can clear them safely.

What to expect on the route?

A fast current and rapids, a stony bottom and very numerous log jams (fallen trees) cleared with technique – over the top, around or underneath.

Is it a good warm-up before the Łupawa?

Yes. The Bukowina flows into the Łupawa and is excellent preparation before its more difficult, extreme sections.
