Wierzyca, Vistula and Żuławy: 270 kilometres in a kayak (multi-day trip)
A proposal for lovers of really long kayaking expeditions. It's an extension of the Wierzyca trail all the way to Gdańsk – Gniew, which usually ends the Wierzyca trip, is only the halfway point here.
Ahead of you are 270 kilometres of great adventure: the wild Wierzyca, the mighty Vistula, the calm Nogat and the vast Żuławy. A trip of a lifetime for the persistent.
What awaits you on the water
The Vistula – big water
The first challenge beyond Gniew is the Vistula. Its tempting, vast expanse leads a dozen or so kilometres to the historic lock in Biała Góra. Beware of waves, wind and whirlpools – it's a mighty river that demands respect and vigilance.
The Nogat and Malbork Castle
In Biała Góra you cross over to the calm Nogat, which will lead you all the way to the largest castle in Poland, in Malbork. Seen from a kayak, at water level, it makes a particularly impressive impression.
Żuławy – the finale of the expedition
Further on the trail leads through the vast, flat Żuławy – a land of canals and pumping stations, completely different from the Kashubian and Kociewie sections. It's a unique crowning of the 270-kilometre adventure.
